Making Lemonade from Lemons

Posted on

It’s been a bit of a scramble in the background at HC HQ; the marquee company unfortunately had to close because of ill health, which left us in a little pickle. But when a challenge presents itself, we see it as an opportunity – so what if no marquees are available in the hight of wedding season as they are all booked?!… let’s go one better.

Welcome our very own Barbershop Big Top.

Not only do we get the 15 meter, 250 seater big top, but the circus is coming to town with it too.

On the Friday, we will be entertained by a free comedy circus show by the professional Circus Skills team at Circus Sensible – the show will be as equally entertaining for children and adults. Later in the afternoon you can try your hand at juggling, plate spinning, beginners stilts, diabolo, devilstick, Poi, Hula Hoop, Chinese ribbons in a series of circus skills workshops for kids and adults.

As I am sure that you can imagine, bringing a big top and circus on site has a significant cost associated with it – which is one of the reasons we have had to wait for such big numbers to get booked in before we could confirm it. Thank you to those on Facebook who saw my pleas to get booked in which meant we could secure our “Lemonade” plan.

We are pleased to announce that the kids circus skills workshop will be provided free of charge to all those 16 or under.

To help offset some of the costs of bringing the circus to town, we will be offering the adult workshops for just £5 for an hour.

In the early evening on the Friday you will get the chance to show off all your newly discovered circus skills by demonstrating them in a show for all to see.

All places need to be booked in in advance (to help with the finances!).

[…] Because numbers are limited for the guided walks, we need you to book in in advance.  You can do this for FREE here. (It’s the same link to book yourself in on the Circus skills workshop.) […]
