It was so great to see so many people at BABS; what a fantastic convention it was with very worthy champions – congratulations to all!
I spent a lot of time chatting to folks over the weekend about camp – many knew about it, but there were still plenty who hadn’t heard about the fun times – so please do keep talking to people and spreading the word.
For those of you who attended last year, you will know how stunning the Warwickshire countryside is around the campsite. After a few groups ventured out on a walk last year – some more successfully than others – it was suggested in the feedback that we have a guided walk for those whose map reading skills might not be as good as their sight reading skills.
Let me introduce Andy Jackson (hubby of Silver Lining’s Sara Jackson), he is a qualified Mountain Leader by Mountain Training England.
Andy will guide you through the stunning countryside on a 6.4 mile (10.3km) guided walk for you to take in ancient churches, wells, hidden nuclear bunkers (yes really), Capability Brown landscaping and of course beautiful Warwickshire countryside.
The guided walk is FREE and will take around 3 hours. It is suitable for all those able to be active for that length of time; it’s mainly through crop fields, no stiles. Dogs are welcome – but as there is livestock on the route, they will need to be under control, ideally on a lead. Andy and Sara tested out the route for us on Bank holiday Monday!
There are two guided walks to ensure that you don’t get lost:
- Saturday 10am
- Saturday 4pm
To ensure that we keep environmental impact to a minimum, the group sizes will be limited to 15 people per group.
The walk route will also be made available for those who wish to venture out alone.
A full schedule of the weekend will be published soon – we have plenty more to announce!
I know many of you are keen to keep an eye on numbers of attendees… we currently stand at 195 campers (plus 8 “staff”) and 9 day trippers (and 22 dogs!) that are booked in so far – an amazing number!
We have provisions for 250 people which includes toilets, servicing, showers, waste disposal and public liability insurance. If we go over the 250 mark then I will need to buy more of this stuff in – which is fine – but it needs to be done ASAP as we haven’t got long. So….here is the deal, if we break the 250 mark before mid June, then I’ll get in more kit… otherwise, I will limit numbers on site to 250 people and ticket sales will be first come first served before they sell out.
This means we have just 38 spaces left at present…..
